Far West has Retired the Redmond Show and. . . . looks to new possibilities with MHAO.

The Far West Committee met and  sadly agreed to retire the show after its 17 year run in Redmond, OR. As many of you are aware, our Morgan show population has been declining for several years for a wide variety of reasons. Far West made the decision to go Multi-Breed 3 years ago. The show was continuing to grow but unfortunately our Morgan population stayed static and then dropped off. We took a hard look at the show from the Morgan perspective as a Regional Show. The decision to retire the show became clear as we looked at numbers of Morgans participating in other shows in the NW as well as the 65 Morgans at Far West this year. Since Far West became its own entity in 2010 with the blessing of MHAO, the parent organization the board agreed to offer a partnership with MHAO in supporting their Oregon Morgan Classic. The MHAO Board met July 18th and the answer was 'yes' and in fact they wish to carry on the Regional Show as an all Morgan show in Eugene! Both parties are excited about the possibilities! A joint application has been submitted to AMHA for Regional Status. em>The new change will be to create a partnership with MHAO to support a Regional Show.

The show dates for the Oregon Morgan Classic are June 21-24, 2017. The hope is the Regional application will be approved giving OMC the potential of featuring the Far West Region 8 Championships and celebrating 60 Years of a Regional Show in Region 8.  Mark your calendars!

Far West Morgan Horse Show Inc. was created in 2010 and is currently a 501 c 3. The organization will continue to host the Far West Cowboy Dressage Gathering  July 27-30, 2017 in Powell Butte, Oregon.

The Far West Board and Show Committee wish to thank all of you for your many years of support for the Far West Regional Show in Redmond.  The Show had a great run with lots ofwonderful memories!
